đź”— Share this article Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix. The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs. Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT. Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a unique setup. Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session. The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the wall. Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight. The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver. The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second off the Australian's time. Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
