Ten individuals convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.

Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.

The couple married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
