It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.
