A Steady Comeback The royal has been undertaking her own gradual return to the public eye following her health challenges and treatment, recently giving her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers". Musical Talent and Access Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by talented youth performers backed by the Future Talent organisation, set up with the help of the Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for instrumental training. An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who is a trumpet player and is from Wales, has been helped by the trust, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "amazing" to be playing at the evening's event. "Music can be very expensive," the musician remarked. She is now a student at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities. Generations Gathering Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who plays the euphonium, will be present at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many notable figures," she said. Within the audience will be individuals spanning multiple eras. That will feature Saphia Turner, aged nine, recipient of a young hero award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to generate funds for local food charities. Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett contributing to their design. Taking to the stage will be singer Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "a dream come true." The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be televised and shown on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
